  6.     As UFONET is not itself an investigative body, but a forum for
  7.  the thoughts and ideas of the public, UFOlogists, and research groups;
  8.  part of our mandate is to alert people to the existence of worthwhile
  9.  research organizations.  Recently, I learned of a new organization by
  10.  the name of UFORIC, which is based in Vancouver.  Other than a having
  11.  a packet of documents from them, I have very little first-hand info
  12.  about the group.  However, from what I've seen so far, they do seem
  13.  to be a professionally run organization, which in this field of study,
  14.  is saying a lot.  What follows then is some reprints of some of the
  15.  information that was sent to me.  If you're interested in pursuing
  16.  this further, contact addresses and phone numbers will be listed.

  18.     Again, what follows should not be construed as an endorsement
  19.  of UFORIC, although my own personal feelings are that UFORIC seems
  20.  to be a legitimate organization, and one in which your money wouldn't
  21.  be wasted.  One thought to bear in mind is that this group has only
  22.  been in operation for about 14 wks. and may be "here today, gone
  23.  tomorrow".  However I don't think this will be the case with UFORIC,
  24.  as they seem to have done their homework and started on a solid
  25.  organizational foundation.  UFORIC was "Incorporated" earlier this
  26.  year in the province of British Columbia.  UFONET is in no way
  27.  affiliated with UFORIC, although its hoped that their will be two-
  28.  way co-operation between both groups.  One of the Directors, Lorne
  29.  Goldfeather, informed me that they were looking to have a BBS arm
  30.  of UFORIC 8-12 months down the road.  At present, I'm trying to
  31.  procure a UFONET node in Vancouver, in order that we might have
  32.  quicker access to Directors and members of UFORIC in the B.C. area.

  90.                            AIMS OF THE ASSOCIATION

  93.   1.  To promote the free exchange, discussion and dissemination of
  94.       information, theories and ideas and proofs related to ufology,
  95.       in Canada and internationally.

  97.   2.  To maintain high standards of ethics, humanitarianism, and
  98.       scientific practices in the study of the U.F.O. phenomenon.
  99.  
  100.   3.  To preserve the history and genealogy of available U.F.O. research.
  101.  
  102.   4.  To secure cooperative action in advancing the common cause of its
  103.       members.
  104.  
  105.   5.  To disseminate information of a general, economic, social or
  106.       governmental character; to analyze subjects relating there to;
  107.       and present the views of its members to other organizations,
  108.       the government, and the public (may require inviting guest
  109.       speakers, or travelling to locations other than Vancouver).

  111.   6.  To cooperate with other organizations of like interest, in Canada
  112.       and worldwide.

  114.   7.  To further the training and education of its members.

  116.   8.  To maintain a 24 HOUR reporting hotline and carry on
  117.       investigations, which may involve hypnosis by a certified
  118.       hypnotherapist.

  120.   9.  To promote standardization in the investigation, reporting and
  121.       evaluation of U.F.O. sightings and related phenomena.

  123.  10.  To provide, at some point in time, in a newsletter or periodical,
  124.       a local, and/or national, and/or international forum for the
  125.       report and publication of all worthy activities and projects of
  126.       person, groups or organizations working in the field of ufology.

  128.  11.  To make awards, eventually, within the life of this association,
  129.       to persons, associations, or agencies, in recognition of
  130.       outstanding accomplishments in the field of ufology.  Awards
  131.       may be of a general nature or specific funding for an
  132.       investigative research project.

  136.             CODE OF ETHICS

  139.   1.  Members shall maintain high standards of ethics and scientific
  140.       practices and shall be guided in their relationships by personal
  141.       integrity.
  142.  
  143.   2.  They shall uphold the dignity and reputation of U.F.O.R.I.C.
  144.       before the public at all times.
  145.  
  146.   3.  They shall avoid and discourage sensationalism, exaggeration,
  147.       undignified and unwarranted statements, or misleading advertising.
  148.  
  149.   4.  In providing devices of any nature, such as an electomagnetic
  150.       field detector, gravity wave detector, or signalling machines,
  151.       they shall offer a 30 day money back guarantee and provide a
  152.       year's warranty on the item in writing (except for expendable
  153.       parts).  Also, they shall provide a repair service for any device
  154.       offered (reasonable use required).

  156.   5.  In providing service for compensation, they shall refuse to
  157.       undertake that which is of a questionable nature, and they shall
  158.       advise the probability of success.

  160.   6.  They shall not use their membership in this association as
  161.       evidence of qualification, or as a measure of ability or
  162.       performance.

  164.   7.  They shall not exhibit or use the name of U.F.O RESEARCH INSTITUTE
  165.       OF CANADA - (U.F.O.R.I.C.) on any letterhead, stationary, or
  166.       business cards, nor in advertising of a business or professional
  167.       nature, unless as part of the association's regular activities,
  168.       along with the approval of its board of directors.

  170.   8.  Any members found to be in violation of this Code of Ethics by the
  171.       board of directors may have his/her membership priviledges in the
  172.       U.F.O.R.I.C. revoked.

  231.     UFORIC - U.F.O. Research Institute of Canada is pleased to
  232.  announce its services to the civilian, medical, governmental, police
  233.  and military communities.

  235.     We maintain a 24 hour REPORTING AND NEWS DISSEMINATION SERVICE
  236.  on our HOTLINE.  All incoming calls and information disclosed to us
  237.  is held in strictest confidence, never leaving the office of the
  238.  director or shown to others without the expressed permission of the
  239.  confidant.

  241.     As a non-profit organization, we depend on contributions to
  242.  maintain our services as well as doing on-site research with
  243.  monitoring equipment.  Any donations of $20.00 and over will entitle
  244.  you to club membership for one year.  Every month you will receive
  245.  material in the mail on the U.F.O. phenomena.

  247.      Our government has had two official documented studies on
  248.  the subject of flying saucers.  They even set up an observation
  249.  post with electromagnetic detectors at Shirley Bay in the province
  250.  of Ontario.  Canada now has an astronomical data collection agency
  251.  in Victoria, British Columbia.

  253.     An item we are currently offering consists of two interesting
  254.  recordings on one audio tape.  The first part consists of a live
  255.  conversation recorded by American BASE COMMANDER HALT at Woodbridge,
  256.  England.  Halt, Lieutenant Bruce Englund, Major Zickler and Sergeant
  257.  Nevells were taking radiation readings at a landing site in a forest
  258.  close by.  Suddenly they saw several U.F.O.s fly near them and they
  259.  became very frightened.  Former Woodbridge Base Commander Colonel
  260.  Sam Morgan released the audiotape to British Solicitor Harry Harris
  261.  in 1984.

  263.     Following this, we have inserted a completely different
  264.  recording of what we believe to be an extraterrestrial voice
  265.  pleading for help four times.  This tape came to us during our
  266.  research of a family who on several occasions encountered U.F.O.s.
  267.  The father is a prominent local businessman.  His wife made a
  268.  recording on audio tape which she planned to send to friends in
  269.  Australia.  After finishing she played it back and was disappointed
  270.  to find distortions in her voice throughout the tape.  Strangely
  271.  it was only in the parts where she spoke about U.F.O.s  Her husband
  272.  made a HIGH SPEED DUBBING, and oddly enough, it came out with her
  273.  voice in slow motion overlaid by another eerie voice pleading for
  274.  help four times.  At this time we are trying to determine if it
  275.  has voice print.
